About the kit
Grade Level:Gr 11
Subject Focus: Workplace preparation, Interest Rates, Loans, Mortgages, Money, Wages (Ministry Course Code: MEL 3E credit value 1)

This kit is based on the Ministry of Education outline for the Grade 11 Workplace Mathematics course. It meets and exceeds all specific requirements, and does so using "real life" materials from the newspapers, internet and other sources. The focus of the course is essentially consumer Math., teaching students about income and expenditures, taxation and interest payments, credit and debts, and automobile ownership and travel. Activities generally use the newspaper as a starting point, having students analyze information which they find in ads, stories and stock market listings. The course thus achieves immediacy, a "real life" connection.

There are eight sections, specifically based on the general Ministry content requirements. Within each section, the work is broken down to meet the specific requirements for that part of the course. This provides you with a check list to ensure you are meeting all Ministry requirements. In addition, we have built in the repetition of work as required by the Ministry, but approach the work from somewhat different angles each time.

Eight Sections:
- Working for Your Money
- Hello, Good Buy!
- Bank on It!
- Making Your Money Work
- It's In Your Best Interest
- You Auto Know
- Getting Around
- Touring With The Band
