Activities deal with the stock market, economic systems, geography, the market place, government policies, advertising, personal finances, entrepreneurship, employment, international currency, business & trade agreements to name a few. Meets Ministry of Education curriculum.

Using the Business section of the Toronto Star, select a story about a community that has been affected by economic growth.

1) What is the name of the community?

2) What industry ( or industries) has inspired this growth?

3) How has this growth affected the price of homes in this area?

4) How has this growth affected the community's access to downtown, parks and schools?

5) What impact has the growth had on the local and surrounding environment?

There are four basic forms of business: sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation and cooperative. Look through the Toronto Star and find examples of each form of business and the corresponding headline from the Star.
